What is Capacitive Touch Screen?

Capacitive touch screen technology uses the current sensing of the human body to work. The capacitive touch screen is a four-layer composite glass screen. The inner surface and the interlayer of the glass screen are coated with a layer of ITO. The outermost layer is a thin layer of bauxite glass protective layer. The interlayer ITO coating is used as the working surface, and the four corners are taken out. Four electrodes, the inner layer of ITO is a shielding layer to ensure a good working environment. When the finger touches the metal layer, the user and the surface of the touch screen form a coupling capacitor due to the electric field of the human body. For high-frequency current, the capacitor is a direct conductor, and the finger sucks a small current from the contact point. This current flows out from the electrodes on the four corners of the touch screen, and the current flowing through the four electrodes is proportional to the distance from the finger to the four corners. The controller calculates the position of the touch point by accurately calculating the ratio of the four currents.
The advantages of capacitive touch screen:
1. Capacitive touch screens only need to be touched, without the need for pressure to generate a signal.
2. Capacitive touch screens require only one or no correction after production, and resistor technology requires routine correction.
3. The life of the capacitor solution will be longer because the components in the capacitive touch screen do not need any movement. In the resistive touch screen, the upper ITO film needs to be thin enough to be elastic so as to be bent downward to contact the underlying ITO film.
4. Capacitor technology is superior to resistor technology in terms of optical loss and system power consumption.
5. The choice of capacitor technology or resistance technology depends mainly on the object touching the screen. If it is a finger touch, a capacitive touch screen is a good choice. If you need a stylus, whether it is plastic or metal, the resistive touch screen can do the job. A capacitive touch screen can also use a stylus, but a special stylus is required to match.
6. Surface capacitive type can be used for large-size touch screen, and the phase is also lower, but can not support gesture recognition at present: Inductive capacitive type is mainly used for small and medium size touch screen, and can support gesture recognition.
7. Capacitive technology is wear-resistant and has a long service life. The maintenance cost is low when the user uses it, so the overall operating cost of the manufacturer can be further reduced.
8. Capacitive touch screen can support multi-touch technology, and unlike resistive touch screen, it is slow and not easy to wear.
